Nathan Lord was the sixth president of Dartmouth College; he was in office from 1828 to 1863. He was born in Berwick, Maine in 1792, and was graduated from Bowdoin College in 1809. In 1815 he was graduated from Andover Theological Seminary. He received his DD from Bowdoin in 1828 and his LL. D. from Bowdoin in 1864. He was a trustee of Dartmouth College from 1821 to 1863. Horace Greeley (February 3, 1811 – November 29, 1872) was an American newspaper editor and publisher who was the founder and editor of the New-York Tribune, among the great newspapers of its time. Long active in politics, he served briefly as a congressman from New York, and was the unsuccessful candidate of the new Liberal Republican party in the 1872 presidential election against incumbent President Ulysses S.
